Miriam's Creative Biography:

Stories and Poetry

From the age of eight Miriam started writing short stories and plays, which she was often allowed to perform at school with the help of her classmates.  Those early manuscripts have long since disappeared (much to Miriam's relief) but the urge to write has continued and developed over the years, leaving Miriam with an ever-growing collection of stories and poetry for the sole purpose of inspiring and entertaining people of all ages.

Music

When Miriam was twenty her Mum enrolled in a night class to learn to play guitar so, with little else to do at the time, and never having thought about playing the guitar before, she enrolled too, just to keep her Mum company.  Within weeks of learning her first three chords, Miriam had written her first song ('I'm Running Down the Road', inspired by a Chrystal Gayle chart hit at the time) and now, thirty years later, she has a bulging songbook that, like her writing, continues to grow.

Miriam has such a strong aptitude for writing lyrics that she adores being challenged with requests for specific themes and has to date written songs for birthdays, anniversaries and even a medieval pageant.

Feeling concerned about what she views as very real issues about the world in which we live, Miriam has written a set of (hopefully) inspiring songs in an attempt to raise environmental and planetary awareness.

Although Miriam has always enjoyed using her voice, having sung in school choirs and various other group ensembles over the years, it was only when she learnt to accompany herself on the guitar that it occurred to her to sing as a solo performer.  Her only regret as a soloist is that her love, and natural flair, for harmony remains untapped.  Since those early days of finding her confidence in sharing her songs with others, Miriam has performed at many local venues and events, including a medieval pageant and a live performance of one of her inspirational songs on BBC Radio Northampton.
